End of term

TO:             All Oesterle Library Student Assistants
FROM:       Belinda Cheek, Access Services Coordinator
RE:             End-of-Semester Matters
DATE:        November 18, 2019

The end of the semester is rapidly approaching!  Please complete the following instructions as we prepare schedules for Finals Week and Spring Semester.

1.      FINALS WEEK - All students are expected to work their regular work schedule through Wednesday, December 4th.  A finals week schedule is being prepared for Thursday, December 5th through Wednesday, December 11th.  All student assistants are required to sign up to work a minimum of eight hours during finals week.  There will be a folder on a stand on the end of Heidi's desk, sign up for your hours there.

2.      SPRING SEMESTER SCHEDULES - All student assistants who plan to work Spring Semester will be assigned a work schedule before they leave for the Holiday Break.  (If for any reason you don’t plan to work next semester, please let Heidi know right away!!)   The appropriate form should be completed to indicate when you will be available to work during Spring Semester.  Please complete the form carefully and thoughtfully!  Also, remember that any form that does not leave enough hours for us to work with when assigning schedules will be returned for revision.  All forms should be given to Heidi by 5:00 on MONDAY, NOVEMBER 25th.

If you have any questions about this process, please do not hesitate to contact Heidi or me.

Max hours per week

Hello!

This is just a little reminder, no one is allowed to work more than 20 hours per week unless you have gotten it approved by HR.  This means if you pick up extra shifts they cannot combine with your regularly scheduled shifts and equal more than 20 hours from Sunday to Saturday.

Thank you,
Heidi

Puzzle Table

Hello!

There is now a permanent puzzle table at the East end of the Reference Room! Please go take a look at it so you know what it looks like and where to find it.

The puzzles for this table are small - 300 pieces or less.

There are 13 puzzles total and 2 will fit on the table at a time. That leaves 11 stored at the ISD. They are found beneath the holds shelves.

When the puzzles that are out on the table are completed (or if students simply want a different pattern), they are encouraged to trade it out for one at the desk.

The expectation is that these will remain in the library and they cannot be checked out.
If you have any questions about this, please talk to Melissa!

Have fun!
Heidi

Schedules

Hello,

With the new semesters we have different schedules from when we are closed and when you are expected to work.  We are trying out that everyone will be responsible for their current schedules through October 11th and then starts back up October 16th.  Also, for Thanksgiving, you will not be expected to work November 27th to November 30th.  You will be responsible for your schedule starting back up on Sunday, December 1st.  Everyone's schedules should reflect this, so let me know if you feel like something is wrong.

Thanks!
Heidi

Please take your time while charging and discharging

Hello,

There have been errors while charging and discharging items mostly due to people going too fast and not looking at the screen after scanning each book.  Please be sure to scan the book and look at the screen before moving on to the next item.

Thanks!
Heidi
